We are thrilled that Bookshop.org have announced a new charitable initiative to mark International Women’s Day, where 10% of every book sale made on Bookshop.org the weekend of 8–9 March 2025 will be donated to the Women’s Prize Trust, while also supporting independent bookshops.
The aim of the initiative is to raise funds to support our mission to enrich society by creating equitable opportunities for women in the world of books and beyond.
The money raised by Bookshop.org will help us to support and empower new women writers through our Discoveries and Writers’ Room programmes, as well as engaging readers with our prizes in 2025: the Women’s Prize for Fiction, the largest celebration of women’s creativity in the world, and the Women’s Prize for Non-Fiction, launched last year to champion women’s expertise and authority.
Marking the 30th anniversary of the Women’s Prize for Fiction, as well as International Women’s Day, the Bookshop.org charity drive will take place the weekend following the longlist announcement, on Tuesday 4 March. Bookshop.org is encouraging authors, publishers and influencers to plan their involvement with the campaign, kicking off on Saturday 8 March.

2025 is set to be a landmark year for the Women’s Prize Trust as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Women’s Prize for Fiction, alongside building on the success of our inaugural Women’s Prize for Non-Fiction. We’re absolutely delighted and would like to thank Bookshop.org for their extremely generous donation – and all the book-buyers, authors and publishers who support – which will help us to champion women’s voices all year round – not just on International Women’s Day. Independent booksellers play a crucial role in championing writers and knowing that this partnership also benefits their work in local communities is gratifying.
