The Women’s Prize Trust has disrupted the canon and changed the landscape of contemporary fiction through the Women’s Prize for Fiction, putting brilliant novels into the hands of readers around the world.
We are now doing the same with the Women’s Prize for Non-Fiction, shining a spotlight on smart, original and accessible thinking by women for the benefit of our global society.
But recognition of women’s work through prizes is only one element of our work at the Women’s Prize Trust.
We also stimulate the start of the pipeline, so that any woman is supported to raise her voice. Our writer development programmes, toolkits, free events and online community create pathways for the storytellers and changemakers of the future.
Over 80% of entrants to the Discoveries development programme said they felt inspired to take steps towards achieving their writing goals and had gained more knowledge on the publishing industry.
We have 16 million readers around the world who enjoy being part of the engaged and lively Women’s Prize community.
Over 40% of the Women’s Prize audience read over 50 books a year, and 76% read over 21 books a year.
We donate thousands of books every year so that everyone, regardless of their background, can access the power and magic of books, and take part in discussions around the most fulfilling and challenging subjects through the lense of fiction and non-fiction, helping to create a empathetic, knowledgable and connected society.
