On Wednesday night in Bedford Square Gardens in Bloomsbury at a glorious outdoor party, we celebrated the 2018 winner of the Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction, Kamila Shamsie with Home Fire.

A host of famous faces and literary luminaries were in attendance to find out this year’s winner and raise a glass to celebrate the incredible work of this year’s shortlisted authors.

The evening was hosted by our Founder Director bestselling novelist Kate Mosse who gave a marvellous speech to mark the 23rd year of the Prize, saying: ‘Fiction can and does make a difference. It slips through the gap of what can and cannot be said.’

Next this year’s Chair of Judges Sarah Sands took to the stage to reveal this year’s winner, also thanking her fellow judges and commenting on this year’s ‘dazzling shortlist.’ Sarah then announced Kamila Shamsie as the 2018 winner of the Women’s Prize for Fiction and welcomed Kamila onstage.
