Hosted online via Zoom, this one-hour event offers a unique opportunity to hear directly from Kerry-Ann Bentley, Harriet Moore, Juliet Mushens, Flo Sandelson and Amandeep Singh about the role of a literary agent, the writers and stories they are looking to represent, and what makes a submission truly stand out.

The evening will begin with a conversation featuring all five agents, who will introduce themselves and their work, discuss the lists they are currently building, and share what they are looking for from querying writers.

For the second half of the event, attendees will divide into five smaller breakout rooms for more focused discussions with an individual agent. These sessions will offer the chance to hear more about each agent’s particular areas of interest and take individual questions from attendees.

About the speakers

Kerry-Ann Bentley is a literary agent and founder of KAB Literary, where she represents award-winning authors across commercial and upmarket fiction. She got her start in agenting as an intern at Janklow & Nesbit Associates and joined the agency full time in 2020, working across the New York and London offices. Kerry-Ann graduated with a First-class degree in English & United States Literature from the University of Essex. Then, she earned her master’s with Distinction in Caribbean Literature and its Diasporas from Goldsmiths, University of London.

Juliet Mushens has been an agent for over a decade. More than a dozen of her clients are Sunday Times bestsellers with half a dozen claiming the number one slot in the last two years alone. Her clients include major no. 1 bestsellers such as Jessie Burton, Claire Douglas, Saara El-Arifi and Richard Osman. The Times ran a piece recognising her as the first agent to represent the number 1, 2 and 3 UK bestsellers in the same week, a feat she repeated in 2022. Juliet sits on the advisory board of Book Brunch, is a Trustee of the Women’s Prize Trust and is currently President of the British Fantasy Society.

Harriet Moore joined Aitken Alexander Associates in 2024 after a decade at David Higham Associates. Her authors include three out of this decade’s 20 Granta Best of Young British novelists: Sarah Bernstein; Women’s Prize for Fiction-nominated Sophie Mackintosh and Jennifer Atkins; Windham-Campbell Prize recipient for Fiction and Gordon Burn Prize-winner Kathryn Scanlan; Windham-Campbell Prize recipient for Non-fiction and Forward Prize-winner Kei Miller; and the Sunday Times bestseller Naoise Dolan. In all forms she is looking for what Hilary Mantel called “a book that one can think and live inside”.

Flo Sandelson joined Curtis Brown in Spring 2022, after a few years of working in contemporary art galleries and later bookselling. She works alongside Felicity Blunt on her authors, whilst actively building her own list of clients. She represents authors such as Rumer Hale, Marvellous Michael Anson and Claude Montclair, working broadly across the SFF and romance space, with a list of authors spanning speculative literary, commercial romantasy, sci-fi, young adult and adult dystopian and upmarket fantasy.

Amandeep Singh joined Graham Maw Christie in 2025. Prior to this she spent 10 years working as an editor, bookseller and agent, most recently at Penguin Random House and The Good Literary Agency. During her time as a commissioning editor, she published only debut authors and as an agent continues to champion new voices and works in-depth on concept and editorial development. Amandeep has judged the Future Worlds Prize for SFF Writers of Colour 2025, the Bloomsbury Mentorship Programme 2026 and Little, Brown New Voices award 2024 and has been a reader for Write Now and the 4th Write Prize. Her authors have won or been nominated for the Wainwright Prize for Nature Writing, Eric Gregory Award, Creative Future Award, Austrian Science Book Prize, Forward Prize and Pushcart Prize. Amandeep is a mentor for Black Girl Writers Mentorship Programme and is seeking books with international appeal that entertain and inform.
