The Women’s Prize Trust and patron Rosianna Halse Rojas are thrilled to have been shortlisted for the 2022 Achates Individual Philanthropy Award, joining a stellar line-up of cultural organisations and their advocates, all doing important work to make culture accessible.

The Cultural Philanthropy Foundation (formerly Achates Philanthropy Foundation) is an independent UK charity which was established in 2016 and is best known for the annual Achates Philanthropy Prize.

The Individual Philanthropy Award was created to celebrate a new generation of cultural philanthropists in the UK, and to inspire the next. Organisations across all art forms were invited to nominate an outstanding individual or trust who has given philanthropically towards their organisation for the first time within the last 12 months, at all levels of giving.

The 2022 Individual Philanthropy Award shortlist was:

Battersea Arts Centre and Rafe Offer
Cardboard Citizens and Cath Longman-Jones
Manchester Art Gallery and new donors to the Manchestser Contemporary Art Fund
Museum of the Home and Will Hanway and Luise Luetcke
Spread the Word and Sam and Rosie Berwick
The Women’s Prize Trust and Rosianna Halse Rojas

This year’s Individual Philanthropy Award was awarded jointly to Rafe Offer, nominated by Battersea Arts Centre, and Sam and Rosie Berwick, nominated by Spread the Word. Both winners support and unlock the potential and creativity in underserved areas to create and progress projects and support the careers of future writers and artists. A purpose that is close to our hearts.

The Women’s Prize Trust nominated new donor, YouTuber, producer and lifelong avid reader, Rosianna Halse Rojas for the Individual Award. Rosianna approached the Trust directly, sharing her desire to do more to actively support women’s literature, having long been an admirer of the Women’s Prize for Fiction. Here she is talking about why she is proud to support the Women’s Prize Trust.

The Women’s Prize Trust champions equity of opportunity for women in the world of books. The Trust works with women writers at all stages of development, and all readers, to unlock potential, boost confidence, and increase skills and knowledge. We couldn’t continue our work without the help of donors like Rosianna, who play a crucial role in advocacy, inspiring others with their passion.

A huge thanks to Rosianna and to all of our generous supporters!
