Rue Baldry’s debut novel, Dwell, a story of gay love across the class divide in 1919, was longlisted for Discoveries 2021 and won the 2024 First Novel Prize.  and will be published by Northodox Press. Her short story, ‘Lech, Prince and the Nice Things’ won the Canada and Europe region of the 2023 Commonwealth Prize, and is included in her debut story collection, Nice Things, which will be published by Fly On The Wall Press in December 2026. She has also been a The Bridge Awards/ Moniack Mhor Emerging Writer and a Jerwood/Arvon mentee, and has an MA in Creative Writing from Leeds University. Thirty of her short stories have been published in journals such as Granta, Fictive Dream, Litro, Postbox Magazine, Mslexia, and Ambit.
